Day 46... Today was a pretty good day. We met with the neonatologist to get the results of Lilly's echocardiogram. Everything looked the same... same levels of distress in the heart, she still has a large PDA and her heart is functioning as it should be (not impacted by the distress...). So, she does not need surgery in the near future, but may need surgery eventually. She will get another echocardigram in 2 weeks. The plan is to keep monitoring and hold off surgery as long as possible, if it is eventually needed. Our hope is that the PDA eventually closes and everything is ok without surgery. She is still on Lasix to help minimize the amount of fluid her heart has to pump. They are slowly turning down Lilly's CPAP support. Hopefully she will be off the bi-phasic CPAP and on the straight CPAP by tomorrow.
Davis is still doing well. They started giving him his feeds over 2 hours, as opposed to the continuous pump he has been on (he gets fed every 3 hours... of which 2 are used to slowly pump the food into his belly). They will slowly shorten the time Davis gets his food to get him used to eating from a bottle. We should be able to start bottle feeding him in a week and a half. They are also talking about taking Davis off the CPAP soon and moving him to the high flow machine (small tubes blowing air in to his nostrils).
Weigh in... Davis gained an ounce, so he is back to 3 pounds and 2 ounces. Lilly gained 2 ounces, so she is at 2 pounds and 14 ounces.
Lilly and Davis' Story
Lilly Mae and Davis Anthony were born on Sunday, December 4th. They were born at 25 weeks and 5 days of gestation.
Lilly was born first at 9:56PM. She weighed 1 pound and 14 ounces and was 13.25 inches long. Her head was 24 cm in circumference (slightly smaller than a baseball).
Davis was born at 10:07PM... 11 minutes after his sister (something she'll never let him forget). He weighed 1 pound and 13 ounces. He was 13 inches long and had the same size head as his sister.
Both were taken to the NICU directly after delivery and are expected to be there until their original due date, March 12th (that's exactly 100 days in the NICU!)
Please keep these little ones in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully we will get to bring them home sooner!

Still cheering you all on and keeping you in my prayers! So great to read the good news that they are both growing and progressing. You are the warrior Wiseman family!
