Today was a huge day for both kids. They decided to take Davis off the CPAP and go straight to normal nasal cannulas (not sure I spelled that right...). They decided to skip the high flow machine, which is usually the next step down. He is handling it great... he's our big boy! They also tried to shorten the feed time for Davis. They wanted to give his feeds over an hour, instead of 2 hours. He didn't like that so much and was having reflux. This was causing him to have episodes during his feedings, so they decided to move him back to 2 hour feedings.
Lilly moved to a normal CPAP today. She is doing great! They will keep her on CPAP for a couple weeks and slowly reduce the pressure. Then they will try the high flow machine with her. Babies can't bottle feed while on CPAP, so she will probably have to wait a week or 2 after Davis to start trying to bottle feed.
Weigh in... Lilly is back up to 2 pounds and 14 ounces and Davis stayed at 3 pounds and 4 ounces.
